Boys ... so often having a ball. Basketball, soccer, even little hackysacks. Going through some family video from 1995/1996, there were several times the camera featured young Derek (14 years old) showing off tricks while Dad/Lamar filmed. Here's a little compilation of those clips...

1996 ... basketball hoop, with tennis net along the wall in the garage.
2021... basketball hoop and pickleball net line on the wall in Derek's grown-up garage!
